Lagos State Taekwondo To Host Second Eko Taekwondo Championship.

Over one hundred Taekwondoists will today converge at the Sir Molade Okoya- Thomas Sportshall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, for the second edition of the Eko Taekwondo Championship.
The championship powered by Avro Pharma will attarct athletes from Nigeria and other African countries, Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana, Republic of Benin, Mali and Democratic Republic of Congo.
The two days Taekwondo Championship will feature in individual poomse in the male and female categories, Finfly weight, Bantam/Feather weight, Light/Welter weight and Middle/Heavy weight.
Secretary of the Lagos State Taekwondo Association, Fisayo Sunmonu, said the championship which was the second edition was geared at keeping their wards fit ahead of national competitions and also to keep them abreast of latest and modern techniques of Taekwondo.
Sunmonu, explained that the maiden edition of the Eko Taekwondo Championship was instrumental to a laudable feat recorded at the 18th National Sports Festival where the state won 3 Gold and 5 Bronze medals.
According to her, the need to open the competition to African nations was to assess their fitness level of their athletes and also to enable the association's technical team to know the grey areas to work upon.
