Nigeria rugby team will this week travel to Cote D'Ivoire to play in the Confederation of Africa Rugby Africa Cup Group C tournament starting in this weekend.
The team was selected after extensive trials both at home in Nigeria and abroad. The team includes men playing their club rugby in Nigeria, England, Scotland, Wales, France and the United States.
The Black Stallions - the national team - still has no main main sponsor but will be playing in kit branded by Jaguar Energy Drink Nigeria and Bagco.
The tournament is part of the on going Africa Cup for International Rugby Board ,IRB, tier three nations and acts as qualification for the IRB World Cup to be played in England next year.
The winner of Group A will qualify for the World Cup which is held, like World Cup football, every four years.
The winners of each group go up to the higher group at then end of each year and the lowest ranked team drop down to the group below.
If Nigeria win this tournament, they will be promoted to Group B, opening the door to play in Group B in 2015 and position themselves to work towards qualification to the IRB World Cup in Japan, in 2019.
