Golden Eaglets, Head Coach, Manu Garba, has said that the Golden Eaglets would not underrate their next Group F opponent, Sweden in their second game at the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup after beating defending champions, Mexico 6-1 on Saturday.
The Eaglets will return to Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium on Tuesday to face debutante Sweden.
At post match interview, Manu says team will approach the game against the Europeans with the same manner the team played Mexico because their objective is to win the tournament for the fourth time, stressing that the resounding six- one win against Mexico was not unexpected given the pedigree of the team overtime.
“There is no and won't be any easy game at this tournament a and we are not going to underrate Sweden because we beat Mexico 6-1," he said.
"We are going to approach the match against Sweden with the same manner as we did against Mexico because our objective is to win the
fourth title for Nigeria.”
He said the convincing win against the Mexicans was not unexpected given the pedigree of the team overtime.
Garba, says the remarkable feat of six - one victory will not have negative impact of his players because they have recorded such high goal margin in some of their friendly matches, stressing that the Eaglets had once defeated a Nigerian local based team eleven- nil.
“The victory against Mexico is not going to have a negative impact on my players because they know what they have to do,” he maintained.
“This is not the first time we are beat a team with such a high
margin.
“We had beaten teams by 11-0 score line back home, so it is nothing new to us to score so many goals against the Mexicans.
“We are looking forward to the next game against Sweden knowing well that all the teams at this championship are here based on merit,” he
added.
