Lanre Tejuosho: I will Work Hard To Develop Sports In Ogun State.

In the spirit of regenerating the standard of sport in Ogun state the state youth and sport commissioner, Prince Olanrewaju Tejuosho, has said that his focus is to develop on the weaknesses and also to continue with the successes his predecessor had achieved.

The commissioner, who resumed office on Monday, said the state government under the reign of senator Ibikunle Amosun, had dynamic development sports programmes to enhance its athletes to excel at major national and international competition, stressing that he would work hard in ensuring that the state stand out among the country of sports loving communities in Nigeria.
 
The former commissioner for environment, while speaking with sports journalist at the the Lagos International Swimming Classic, commended Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola,for sponsoring and promoting the sports in Nigeria and Africa as he explained that the competition which attracted top AfricaN swimmers would serve as an avenue for Nigerian swimmers to prepare ahead of the National Sports Festival and international events.

‎"Lagos state Government is sponsoring and promoting this kind of competition. It is very good for the nation's swimmers and upcoming athletes to develop themselves. Lagos is being surrounded by water and Lagos swimmers are expected to take advantage of it. The sport is a good form of exercise" he said.

‎While calling on the states to emulate Lagos state Government commitment to sport development, Tejuosho, said the cash price money attached to the competition would go a long way in encouraging the swimmers to be at their very best, adding that the competition would also propel Lagos state swimmers to win laurels at the next National sport Festival.

"To compete in this kind of competition since it has very lucrative awards for them, will make the athletes to give their very best. Such competition should be encouraged. It would encourage most of our talents to participate knowing their efforts will not be in vain.‎

" The major objective of investing in sports is winning .The competition is good for all the states and Nigeria. It would further brighten their chances in national and international competitions. The athletes must endeavor to aspire to become champions".
     
Tejuosho vowed to give equal attention to all sports and focus on programmes that will aid athletes development.

"The first thing is ‎to develop on all the weakness and to continue with the successes of my predecessor might have achieved and to ensure that Ogun state remains first in sports in Nigeria.‎ Coming to witness this swimming tournament showed that there is interest in all sports and give attention to all and not only football "
