Seventeen Nigerian coaches and former international players have
arrived London to begin a nine -day capacity building course in match
reading, match preparation and backroom analysis.
The highly qualified persons, led by NFF Executive Committee member Christopher Green left the Murtala Muhammed Airport at exactly 1.00 pm on Monday, and taxied at the Heathrow Airport on arrival in London at 7.40 pm.
They undertook another two hours drive by road to Champneys Health Resorts in Leicestershire where they would based for the week long program.
The team also comprised of NFF Technical Director Shuaibu Amodu, Isa Ladan Bosso, John Obu, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Kelechi Emeteole, Paul Aigbogun, Edema Fuludu, Musa Idris, Garba Lawal, Ahmed Yaro Yaro, Anne Chiejine, David Ngodigha, Yisa Shofuluwe, Dahiru Sadi, Nasiru Jibril, Florence Omagbemi who joined from her base in United States of America and Patrick Ngwaogu who would also serve as Media Officer of the contingent.
Present at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos to bid the contingent farewell were the NFF President Amaju Pinnick, 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwumi and the Chief Executive of Taleveras Foundation, Mr. Igho Sanomi.
According to the President of the NFF, the trip was packaged in their resolve to ensure that science is applied in the game of football in the technical areas.
“It is based on this that we are sending you to England to train on match reading, match preparationand back room analysis. This is a very critical part in enhancing the game of football on the field. We are happy that we have been able to do this, it is a new vision in Nigeria football”. He said that out of the thirty referees that have trained so far, five of them have been appointed to officiate several international assignments within this period.
In his speech, the Chairman of Taleveras Foundation, Igho Sanomi expressed joy standing among the Coaches whom he described as “greatmen”.
“Today is a very great day for me, being among you, as we are all here to bid you farewell. These are people we all looked up to, adore and were trying to imitate their moves as young footballers in those days”.
He appreciated the NFF for the honour to be part of the efforts at re-invigorating Nigeria football for real development.
