Three world class women marathoners with International Athletics Association Federation,IAAF, gold label, has confirmed their participation in the forthcoming Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
They are Ethiopian, Debele Worknesh Degefaa 2013 IAAF bronze medalist,
Qurage Alem Mokonnin also from Ethiopia and Kenyan Leah Jebet Kiprono
winner of Nairobi Marathon.
Also two marathoners with IAAF silver medal, Irine Jeptoo Kipchumba of Kenya winner of Taishan International Marathon China and his compatriot, Fridah Jepkitel Lodep, winner of 2015 Hong Kong marathon will also be in Lagos State to fight for the first prize of fifty thousand dollars race.
The marathon tagged, ‘running from old to the new’ is scheduled to flag off on the sixth of February, 2016, at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos and finish at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island.
According to Yussuf Alli, General Manager Marathon, registration is free and Lagosians are encouraged to run for fun and charities they support.
