The Lagos State Commissioner fot Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji- Adele, has said that the aim of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship is geared towards youth development, empowerment and to discover talents.
The Commissioner who made this remark on Sunday at the official opening Ceremony of this year's edition of the FIVE- A - Side Tournament at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island has been able to eradicate juvenile deliquency.
Adeniji -Adele, said Omoefe Innocent Erusiafe whose team embarked on a trip to Brazil after winning the maiden edtion of the tournament would be presented with his travelling documents to Brazil to pursuit his football career at 2SV International Showcase Ole Futebol Academy, Brazil.
According to him, five of the players that qualified Nigeria for the last FIFA Beach World Cup were product of MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship, stressing that others ahve been absorbed into the National League Clubs.
He thanked MTN for their unflinching support to make the competition an annual event.
