PSMS Shops Eight Million Dollars To Keep Naija Village In South Africa 2010

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF,has licensed Premium Sports Management Services,PSMS, to market, manage and oprate as a private sector driven initiative the Naija Fan Village in South Africa.
The Naija Village which is billed to open on the Eight of June till twelfth of July, 2010 is an exriential fan zone specifically targetted at Nigerians from Nigeria and Disapora to get a feel of home - away - home at the first ever FIFA World Cup on an African soil.
The NFF made the decision to offer PSMS to oprate the Naija Village having inspected thelocation in Johannesbourg, Bloemfontein and Durban of suitable location identified by PSMS and Extreme Sports Limited.
According to PSMS, the Naija Village would be the first time in the history of Nigerian participation at the World Cup, Nigerian fans and supporters would have a unique Nigerian atmosphere at the first African World Cup.
The fan viwing and exhibition centre located on Westville Road Durban, South Africa, would cater for an estimated daily audience of five thousand persons, totaling between One hundred and sixty thousand and two hundred thousand persons over the thirty two days of the event.
The Project Manager, Femi Abioye, said the Naija Fan Village would feature the unique hospitality for which Nigeria was famed and boast of facilities which include accomodation of three thousand and five hundred beds, cafeteria and kitchen, swimming pool\ gymnasium, adding that it offers a tailor opportunity o showcase Nigerian companies, product, culture and tourism potentials and unique brands across both the public nadprivate sectors at the variuos pavillions and exhibition stands.
Abioye, said the Naija Village was designed to maximise the experince of the World Cup for both the average Nigerian and international football fan and also serve as an oppotunity to project a positive image of Nigeria to one of the most traveled persons in the world.
At the recent signing of thelicense agreement with NFF, the Manging Director of PSMS,Miss Nkechi Nneka Obi, said the choice of Durban was hinged on the fact that Durban is the warmest place in South Africa during the South African winter season,stressing that the region of KwaZulu Natal where Durban is situated has adopted the Super Eagles as the team of Durban.
Obi, called on the organised private sector, Govermnet agencies involved in projecting Brand Nigeria, State Govenment with tourism as their arrowhead and the businness community to take advantage of the Naija Village platform to promote their value based proposition thrpough sponsorship of diverse expose of Nigeria foods, arts,culture and music to international audience.
