
The Nigeria Under 20 women’s team, Falconets will face England, Mexico and Japan in the group phase of this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup taking place in Germany.
The Draws conducted yesterday in the Dresden Castle, attended by some of the icons of women football in the universe.
Nigeria was pitched in Group C and will play England in the first match of the pool, at the tournament taking place 13 July – 1 August this year.
Falconets’ Head Coach Egan Adat and Team Secretary, Faith Ben-Anuge represented the Nigeria Football Federation at the event.
The Nigerian Falconets have appeared in all four previous tournaments, reaching the quarter finals in Chile in 2008 before losing narrowly to France.
Africa’s other representative Ghana will do battle with awesome United States of America, Switzerland and South Korea in Group D
Hosts Germany lead Group A that also has Costa Rica, Colombia and France, while Brazil, North Korea, Sweden and New Zealand make up the Group B that has been dubbed ‘Group of Death’.
In the tournament opening match, Germany square up against Costa Rica, in a repeat of the 2006 FIFA World Cup opening game, in which the Mannschaft spanked Costa Rica’s men 4-2 at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
The 5th FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be played in, Augsburg, Bielefeld, Bochum and Dresden.
