LAGOS RUGBY UNION LEAGUE KICKS OFF IN MAY

Friends of Rugby have concluded arrangement to kick off the Lagos Rugby Union League program for the 2010 Rugby Season billed for the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos in May.
According to the group's spokesperson, Ntiense Williams, Six Rugby Clubs in Lagos would slug it out for the coveted Rugby League Trophy which also carries a yet to be disclosed prize money by the organizers.
The Six Rugby Clubs are - Lagos Rugby Football Club, Eco II Rugby Football Club, Young Lions Rugby Football Club, the Police Rugby Team, Addax Rugby Football Club, and the defending champion Cowrie Rugby Football Club respectively.
According to Williams, the rugby Clubs would play a round robin 15 - A - Side Rugby Union League matches every fortnight at the National Stadium, Surulere, as three matches would be played on every Saturday.
He said Friends of Rugby have also made arrangements for the return of the National Rugby Union League finals to be played by the winners and runners-up from the Lagos Rugby Union League and the traditional Northern Rugby Union League at the end of the year.
According to him plans are in top gear for a National Female Rugby Tournament which would enable them to select side at the prestigious Dubai Female 7’s Rugby Tournament at the end of November.
This will be the first time that a Nigerian Female Rugby Team will participate at such an International Rugby Stage.
