The Lagos State Government has resolved to create a platform to engage its youth with a new direction to spot exceptional gifted talents in becoming elite athletes through Adopt - A -Talents Programme.
While speaking at a media parley with sports Managers, the Senior Speacial Assistant on Grasroots Sports Development, Wale Oladunjoye, said the sports loving Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has pledged his government's commitment to develop grassroot sport through Adopt - A -Talents Programme.
According to Oladunjoye, the Governor has enjoined all the fifty seven local government and LCDA Chairmen to invest on the new sports initiative as a way of creating a new economy strategy that would be beneficial to the local governments and the state.
The programme which is designed for young athletes under age 16, is geared at exposing the athletes to scientifically structured all year round training programme which would be sponsored by the public, private and corporate bodies.
Among the accreditted sports under the programme are athletics, soccer/ beachsoccer, basketball,boxing, table tennis and volleyball/beach volleyball.
