The Lagos State Government has launched and presented its Football and other Sports Supporters Club to the public.
The event which took place on Thursday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium attracted dignitaries from different walks of life.
While speaking, te state Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji Adele, said Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola called for the need of a State Supporters club which would be run in a professional manner and that would give adequate support to other sports associations under the state's sports council.
He assured the club that Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola would support the club with acquisition of vehicles and provision of funds to run the club effectively.
The Commissioner, said the state's supporters club has come of age and the state's government would fortify the club with necessary materials to make them function better.
Adele, advised the supporters club to establish its branches in all the Local government and Local council development areas to support sporting activities
He added that the state government has taken sports to the grassroot with active participation nd collaboration of the local government as each council has an equivalent of a sports council called the local government sports committee.
He urged the club to develop a content of organisation that would arouse the interest of the public, adding that the state government would encourage the local government and LCDA to support the club.
He urged them to be commercial orientted with a view of raising funds to keep the club's secretariat active and also to run the club's local government chapters.
He called on Lagosians and corporate bodies to support the club through donation and also engage them in social activities.
