Former Green Eagles Captain,Segun Odegbami has advised players of Asegun Comprehensive High School, Ibadan to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them, while not neglecting their education.
The players are currently camped at the International Sports Academy in preparation for the Nestle Milo African Under-13 championship coming up in South Africa.
Odegbami, who is the proprietor of the Academy, charged the young boys to be disciplined and focused ahead of the African tourney, adding that as young boys the world could be at their feet but they need discipline to reach the limelight.
Odegbami, who commended Nestle Nigeria PLC for its support for Nigeria youths through its various sponsorship of youth programmes, charged other corporate bodies to emulate the gesture of the company by giving back to the society.
The company's Brand Manager, Femi Akintola, said they are committed to the well-being of Nigerian youths hence the company has resolved to do anything within its powers to promote youth sports development.
Akintola, said the championship was a way of exposing the young boys early for future challenges, adding that the players should go to South Africa to make not only themselves proud but the country, their parents and families.
He informed the team that great Nigerian footballers like Peter Rufai, Samson Siasia and Chief Segun Odegbami will visit their camp to share some of their experiences with them in a bid to encourage them to win the tournament.
The School’s Head Coach, Lekan Akinpelu said his team was fully prepared for the championship in South Africa and promised that they would lift the trophy.
"Milo provided all the kits and l believe if other companies in Nigeria can embark on grassroots’ developmental programmed like this, Nigeria Football will change for better".
The team is expected to play a friendly match on Monday at the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos, as part of their preparations ahead of the tourney that will hold between 4th and 11th of this month in South Africa.
