The second Nigerian team in the championship Royal Hoopers basketball club kept their quarter-final qualification alive when they defeated AS Sale basketball club of Morocco in a highly tense game.
Hoopers who is making its debut in the Africa biggest club competition for Men had early lost its first two games to BC Mazembe basketball club of Democratic Republic of Congo by 57- 69 points before going down to defending champion, Primeiro de Agosto basketball club of Angola by 70-96 points.
The destiny of the Hoopers now rested on their last Group-B game against giant killing Condor basketball club of Cameroon on Wednesday.
The game against the Cameroonian according to team head coach, Ogoh Odaudu is a must win for his side as nothing would stand in their way of making the last-8 in their first outing of the Champions Cup.
Coach Odaudu, a veteran of Africa club competition with Ebun Comets basketball club believed the players are not ready to be bundled out of the competition at the group stage.
“Everybody is commitement to the goal of making the quarter-final and at this points the players have reiterated their stand not to drop our last group game against Condor of Cameroon.
“Though we are mindful of the fact that Condor defeated defending champion Primeiro Agosto by 74-66 points on Sunday but the win over AS Sale of Morocco who defeated Condor in both sides opening group game last Friday have re-engineer our hope that any team is beatable in the championship.
