Nigeria and FIBA Africa Zone-3 champion, Kano Pillars basketball club has qualified for the quarter final of the on going 25th edition of the final round of the Africa Champions Cup for Men winning all its three Group-A
The basketball club is the only team in that won all its three Group-A games.
The team handled by Coach Sani Ahmed,began their campaign with an 86 - 60 points win over Al Ahly basketball club of Libya last Friday in group-A continued with a superb 74 - 51 points victory over Maxaquene basketball club of Mozambique with another 71- 45 points win over Manga basketball club of Gabon on Sunday.
The Nigeria DStv Premier Basketball League champion will on today take on Inter-Club basketball club of Congo Brazzaville before rounding off its group game against host ASO Modele basketball club of Republic of Benin on Wednesday.
Its head coach, Sani Ahmed praised his players for their discipline and team work and says no team will be underrated in the competition.
Ahmed, thumb-up the huge support the team have so far received so far from the Kano State government saying only a truly supported side can do well in any championship.
“I want to give our victory run so far to the players high sense of discipline and commitement to the task at hand, they have been very dedicated to the course of the club and if they continue like this I think we will go far in this year’s championship.
“Kano State government have also being very supportive to our course and without the huge support we’ve received so far from the governemnt I don’t we would have been able to achieve what we have achieved in a space of three years.
“Our eyes is certainly set on the title and we are promising lovers of the game back home in Nigeria that we will not let them down, concluded the Pillars Chief tactician.
