President of the Nigeria Football Association,Aminu Maigari has commended Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt for its triumph in the 2010 West African Football Union, WAFU Inter Club competition.
Sharks FC overpowered their Togolese adversaries in the final match played in Lome on Sunday to lift their first –ever trophy after more than 30 years of existence.
The Garden City club, which finished as runners-up in last year’s Federation Cup competition, had also finished second in the same F.A Cup competition twice previously and supporters and critics alike had been talking of a jinx bogging down the team.
But the club proved this wrong in Lome with a lone goal victory following an unstoppable shot by former Super Eagles’ invitee Victor Ezeji.
And on Tuesday afternoon, Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi hosted the team to a reception at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
