NFF Wants Match Agent

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 | 10:53 PM

Following the botched Guetamala's and Obama Soccer Cup in United States, the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, has urged its secretariat to begin a process to appoint a world-renowned Match Agent, who will be on a long-term exclusive contract with the Federation.

The Match agent according to the NFF would be saddled with the responsibility of organizing friendly matches for Nigeria’s national senior team on FIFA-free days.

In a communiqué issued by the NFF and made available to Nigeriasportnews.org, the Committee noted with total disappointment the conduct of United States-based Nigerian FIFA Licensed Match Agent, Pius Oleh who was to organize a four-nation Green Bowl Soccer Tournament in the United States of America.

To this end, the Executive Committee , has instituted a three-man panel to thoroughly investigate the incident with a view to forestalling any future occurence as Suleiman Kwande is being named the Chairman, while Shehu Adamu, Honourable Effiong Johnson are members while Tunde Aderibigbe is the Secretary.

The NFF Executive Committee also commended the Federal Government, through the Honourable Minister/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Professor Taoheed Adedoja for the support given to Ibrahim Galadima to vie for a seat on the FIFA Executive Committee.

The committee which praised the efforts of the campaign committee, attributed Nigeria’s failure to clinch a seat on the FIFA Executive Committee to high-wire politics, stressing that the Federation would take appropriate steps to align itself with the situation once Amos Adamu’s case is concluded at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Committee congratulated the new boards of Football Associations of the 36 States and the FCT, noting that the elections were credible and transparent.

However, in the contentious case of Ekiti State FA polls, the Committee has set up a three-man committee headed by Barrister Olaleye Adepoju to go on fact-finding mission to the State and report back to it.

The Executive Committee also resolved to set up an Arbitration Tribunal to look into the decision of Friday, 25th February, 2011 by the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee to annul the 29th January, 2011 elections into the boards of the Women’s, National and Amateur Leagues.

The Committee formally received the report of the Ad-hoc Medical Panel inaugurated by the NFF President to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Ocean Boys FC player, Emmanuel Ogoli and resolved to implement the findings of the Ad-hoc Committee immediately with a view to forestalling cases of sudden death at football stadia in the country.

In order to encourage its present sponsors/partners and attract new ones, the Executive Committee pledged greater and more meaningful visibility to its corporate partners at all its events, programmes and activities henceforth. It also expressed deep appreciation to its present sponsors and partners.

The Committee decided to extend the stay of the present Management Staff, whose initial 4-year contract ended on Tuesday, 28th February, 2011 by six (6) months.

An Ad-hoc Establishment Committee has been set up to deal with all establishment matters within the Federation, including the contract duration of the Management Staff and other vacant positions after July 2011.

Executive Committee constituted a six-man Match Commissioners’ Appointment Committee: Chief Kunle Adesiyun (Chairman), Mr. Dele Ogungbemi (Member), Dr. A. A. Garba (Member), Alh. Mohammed Manzo (Member), Mr. Oswald Atuake (Member) and Mr. Victor Nwangu (Member). Mr. Lawrence Katken is Secretary.

Committee also constituted a standing Medical Committee: Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu (Chairman), Dr. Akin Amao (Vice Chairman), Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi (Member), Dr. Mohammed Sani Isah (Member), Dr. Alkali Mohammed (Member), Dr. Iyi Agada (Member), Dr. Ken Anugweje (Member) and Dr. Dayo Odunuga (Member). Mr. Sunday Okayi is Secretary.

Executive Committee appointed Barrister Eddy Ibrahim Mark as Chairman of the Appeals Committee with General Bala Usara as Vice Chairman, while the present membership is retained to sit on Appeal cases presently before the NFF.

Committee endorsed the recommendation of its Technical Committee that the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles and Ethiopia be played at the National Stadium, Abuja on Sunday, 27th March, starting from 7pm, while the London 2012 Olympics qualifier against Equatorial Guinea be played in Benin City, on Saturday, 26th March, 2011.
