The Nigeria Boxing Federation,NBF, is set to engage the services of Nigerian ace musician, Charles Oputa,popularly known as Charley Boy to raise money for the Federation in a bid to accomplish its numerous programmes to improve the horizons of boxing in Nigeria.
Its Technical Adviser, Ndika Nsofor, who made this statement in an interview with Arena Sports, said the money realised through the concverts in Abuja and Lagos State would enable the Federation's boxers to embark on training ttour prior to major international competitions.
Nsofor, said the Federation's major problem was inability to provide enough funds to anhance better preparations for international competitions, stressing that the NBF Executive members has officially informed the Nigeria Sports Commission of its demand for funds to expose its pugilists to the modern trend in boxing.
Ahead of the All African Games in Mozambique, Nsofor, said the NBF has concluded plans to organise a national championahip where boxers would be invited to early camping as well as training tours to enable them to select te best pugilists for the Games.
He explained that bulk of the boxers who amde it to the last Commonwealth Games in India would still be retained ahead of the OLympic Games 2012 because they are still in good form, adding that with good training programmes, the boxers would win lauresl at the All African Games and the Olympic Games.
