Nigeria, Ghana to kick off at 8pm

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | 9:18 AM

Tuesday's international friendly between Nigeria and Ghana will kick off at 8pm at Watford's Vicarage Road grounds.

Two of West Africa's biggest rivals come into the game on the back of vastly disparate fortunes.

While Ghana are brimming with confidence from having qualified in style for next year's African Nations Cup, Nigeria have their confidence in tatters from failing to do the same.

Worse, the Super Eagles gave up the ticket on the final day of qualifying to Guinea. At home.

The game has now turned into one of survival for Nigeria coach Samson Siasia, who admitted as much at Monday's ore-match press conference

"If we do not win on Tuesday, I will be digging my own grave," Siasia told the assemblage of reporters.

His players know it, too. Captain Joseph Yobo echoed those sentiments when he pointed out that the Super Eagles have more than pride at stake
"This is like a World Cup Final for us.

"Ghana are a very good team, and they are under no pressure. But we have cannot afford even to draw.

"We have to win to let our fans know we are sorry for what happened on Saturday."
