Super Eagles and Chelsea F.C offensive midfielder, John Mikle Obi, has debunked the rumour making rounds that he prefers to lace boot for Chelsea F.C that the national senior team.
Obi, while speaking with Sportsweight.blogspot.com, said it was always a proud moment for him to play for Nigeria and that it would be wrong for soccer pundits and fans to label him as unpatriotic football player.
"Its always a proud moment for him to wear Nigeria's jersy.I missed 9 weeks for Chelsea F.C due to injury and so you cannot force me to play because am injured"
"Even when i have not played for my club. The guys would not allow me to o because have not played for them.Have made this point clear and yet they regard me as not a patriotic player. The country made me whom i am today."
The football player, who was devastated for counting him as unpatriotic, explained that Nigerian soccer administrators must understand that he was loyal to the Eagles but the club's management would not grant him permission to play for the Eagles while nursing injury.
Having explained the club's policy on issue relating to injury, Obi said his position has always been perceived as being unpatriotic even when he was not playing for Chelsea F.C in the Premiership.
He added that his non inclusion in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Namibia on Sunday in Calabar would not demoralize him from honoring Keshi's invitation in subsequent matches, stressing that he wants to achieve success with the Eagles.
