Mikel Obi Set Up Foundation.

Super Eagles and Chelsea F.C. are midfielder, Mikel Obi, has concluded to set up a foundation which activities would centre on providing numerous welfare packages to Nigerians.

The Eagles offensive midfielder said it had always been his desire to give back to the society that made him as an internaitonal football star and it would be sad if he fails to add value to the lives of those who could not provide basic and necessary materials for their comfort.

"To give back to what he has achieved in the past few years as a professional player to the homeless and the poor people who could not afford shelter, food among others.This is one of the important why the foundation is set up".I want to give back to the nation.I want to share part of my success.It is the right time to give back to the society.It is going to be good for him and his career.I grow up with them in Jos and this are people whom he play football with.I know the pain they go through".

"The foundation will help reduce the rate of poverty.Have seen the President doing similar thing for the Almajiri's, the homeless.Government alone cannot eradicate poverty, hence the reason he dedicated to delve into such project.This is something i have been nursing for years since he has been playing football"

Mikel who started his football career and want to share his success in football with the people living in poverty, said the foundation which would located in each of the nation's geo-graphical zones would go a long way to reduce the rate of poverty in the nation.

According to him, the foundation which would focus on the homeless where the youths would be taken off the streets and be rehabilitated at the centre, adding that the project would also provide immense opportunities for discovered football players at any of foundation's centre.

The football player who commenced president Goodluck Jonathan for designing a programme for Almajiris, said he decided a delve into such a laudable project to support the Nigerian government in reducing poverty and preaching peace through the programme.

The project Manager, Olumide Omojuigbe said the foundation's had been approaching numerous corporate bodies to support Mike's laudable project which intend to brig smiles on the faces of Nigerians.
