Nigerian and African number one female table tennis player, Offiong Edem, has said that her inabiity to secure a team would not affect her performance in the singles event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Edem, who last played ALCL Grauno Quailly Table Tennis Club of France, said her agent was still in search for a reputable table tennis club and that she would prefer a German table tennis club since the country is among the top rated in Europe.
The current African number one, explained that herself and Nigerian ace female ping ponger, Funke Oshonaike had acquired enough experiences to stand them a chance to qualify for the main chart, stressing that the team's tour of Germany for a month would also help them to give their opponents good fight for laurels.
She said the Nigeria Table Tennis federation, NTTF, must begin an aggressive developmental programmes and also source for corporate bodies to enable its wards to feature in international body's approval competitions so as to acquire points on the International Table Tennis ranking chart, adding that the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation are the fast African developing table tennis nation because of its huge investment in the sport.
