Governor Babatunde Fashola has urged the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, to make Lagos State the home of the Federation Cup grand finale.
The Governor, who made this statement on Monday at his office, Lagos House, Ikeja when he officially handed over a new Silver Federation Cup trophy to the Nigeria Football Federation.
Fashola, charged the Executive members of NFF o retain the historical vales of the then Challenge Cup that is being played across the natio but has one destination, stressing that Wembley Stadium in England has become the home of England's F.A Cup for a long period of time.
The Sports - Loving Governor, who acknowledged that wining the England's F.A Cup has become the dream of every football players in England, said Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney was yet to win a F.A Cup trophy despite being rated among the best strikers in the League.
He said the then Challenge Cup had produced great football legends like late Haruna Ilerika, Yakubu Mabo, Ismaila Mabo, Muyiwa Oshode amon gothers, stressing that the tournament has a rich history to the development of Nigerian football.
Fashola, said handling gover the tournament's trophy to the NFF would rekindled and re - awaken the interest of soccer fans and administrators to visit match venues.
