Newly promoted football club to the Nigerian Premier League,El - Kanemi Warriors, is topping the Lagos zone of the 2012 Federation Cup.
In the first match played on Monday at the Agege Stadium, El- Kanemi Warriors defeated a premier league side, Kwara United by a lone goal to secure three points.

Head coach of the Kwara United, Tunde Sanni, said he would not be devastated by the team's defeat but continue to work hard to scale through to next round of the Federation Cup, as he stressed that the Lagos zone is open to any team.
Sanni, said the red card issued to Vincent Ogar was a big blow to his tactical approach to the match as the move affected his players morale to equalise, adding that Kwara United has never played El - Kanemi F.C for a long period of time and it was difficult to understand their style of play.

Winner of the Lagos zone will stay in Lagos State for the quarter final fixtures while the second placed team move to Rivers zone to compete with the first place squad.
