Lagos Wins BRF National Open Judo Championship.

Lagos State Judo athletes have emerged the winner of the maiden BRF National Open Senior and Junior competition organised by the Nigeria Judo Federation in conjunction with the Lagos state Judo Association.
The competition was concluded last Friday at the multi purpose hall of the University of Lagos, Sports Centre, Yaba.
Lagos state emerged winner of the BRF National Open championship ahead of Nasarawa in second position while National Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC placed third at the end of the competition.
Eight states and two institutions took part in the tournament which was sponsored by the Lagos state government to prepare participating states fro the forthcoming 'Eko 2012' 18th National sports festival holding in the state from November 27th to December 9th.
Chairman the association, Mutiu Aare expressed satisfaction with the turn out at the competition while commending the sports loving governor of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola for demonstrating his commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria by sponsoring the first National championship this year.
Aare said the competition will help participating states to perform better at the Eko 2012 while promising that team Lagos will win 10 out of 12 gold on offer for Judo at the mini Olympics.
First vice chairman of the association, Asiwaju Temitope said the week long event was an eye opener for the association to improve its athletes ahead of he EKO 2012.
Asiwaju added that the preparatory tournament lived up to expectations and this will propel the sport forward.
