Classic Sports Association has concluded all arrangement to hold a traditional sports tournament at the Vetland Primary Schools playground, Agege on Saturday, 22 December.
The one day competition, tagged Ifako Ijaiye/Ojokoro Traditional Sports Championship, is facilitated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Speaking ahead of the tourney, Mrs. Olukemi Jayeola, who is the chairperson of Classic Sports Association, said that at least 18 clubs within Ifako Ijaiye and Ojokoro community will fight for honours and the prize money at the event.
According to her, there will be contest in Ayo Olopon, Gidigbo, Draft and Ram Charging.
She said that the tournament which enters its second edition this year, will be a glamorous and an interesting showpiece with the aim at showcasing traditional sports talents in the community.
Among the dignitaries expected at the occasion include the incumbent chairman of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government, Toba Oke, Chairman, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Benjamin Olabinjo, member of the House of Representatives, representing Ifako Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Michael Ogunusi, Special Assistant on Religious Matters to Governor Fashola, Rev. Seun Ogedengbe, Chairman, Oroki Herbal Medicare, Alhaji Rafiu Owolabi and Chairman of the Lagos chapter of National Union of Road Transport Worker, NURTW, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.
Royal Fathers of the day are Oba Rilwan Olumolade Taiwo of Ojokoroland and Oba Taofeek Obawole, Onifako of Ifako, while the Mother of the day is Alhaja Oluwa.
