Lagos Boxers Get NABF Invitations.

Following their superlative performance at the recently concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) boxing event in Lagos, no fewer than 10 boxers of the Team Lagos boxing team have been handed invitation by the Nigeria Amateur Boxing Federation (NABF).

Speaking on the achievement, the Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association (LABA) Secretary Adesoye Adejuwon hinted that the state boxers have started reaping the fruits of their labour with the timely invitation of the national amateur boxing regulatory body.

Even though the boxers have been neglected by the federation in previous years, he further expressed great optimism in the ability of the invited boxers to make huge impact in future international tournaments. “It is a great delight to see most of the Lagos boxers being invited to compete at the national level.


It shows that people in authority appreciates the talents and potentials discovered in these y
oung boxers. Even some of them that failed to qualify for the medals zone were equally invited.”

“We (Team Lagos) won eight gold medals in the boxing event, which automatically put us in pole position ahead of others states. We succeeded in achieving this feat with the support of The Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame (LBHF) Monthly Saturday Boxing Show, which helped the boxers to maintain high level of fitness ahead of the Sports Festival.

I am so excited; I have no doubt in the ability of the boxers to deliver”, he stated.

Meanwhile, the invited boxers include, Dauda Azeez in the Light Flyweight category, Ottoh Joseph Lightweight category, Gabriel Francis Heavyweight category, Peter Kate Welterweight category female, Adebayo Mutiat Flyweight category, Oriyomi Aisat Bantamweight category, among others.
