Some Golden Eaglets would have a once in a life opportunity of playing against one of their heroes on Friday when they tackle Al-Sadd Football Club complete with legendary Spanish star, Raul Gonzalez at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium -popularly known in Doha as the Old Trafford .
Raul, the former Real Madrid's captain, is one of the most influential foreign players here and currently with Al Sadd- which incidentally once paraded Nigerian striker, John Utaka in the 1990s.
His expected apperance for the Qatari club on Friday is already causing buzz amongst the Golden Eaglets who have voved not to be overawed.
"You mean we would be playing against Raul us on Friday? Success Isaac, Golden Eaglets' striker asked rhetorically.”
It would be a privilege to play against Raul and shake hands with him before the match." Isaac, Eaglets' top scorer in the qualifier for the CAN Under-17 Championship in Morocco with five goals in six matches, added:"I can't wait to play against Raul because it is an opportunity to learn some new things about goal scoring from him and it is going to be an interesting game for us."
Similarly, Musa Muhammed, the national Under-17 team captain stated that the team would be focussed to preserve their unbeaten run and would be carried away with the prospect of playing against Raul.
“We are going to play against Al-Sadd like any other team with the objective to win," he stated. “My teammates are ready and we want to show what we have been learning since we came to Aspire.”
Added midfielder, Bernard Bulbwa: “We understand that Al-Sadd is a very good team and this is going to be a good test for us. We are going to keep our heads and by the grace of God, we shall be victorious.”
All roads lead to the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Friday and it remains to be seen how the Golden Eaglets are going to cope with challenge from the illustrious Al-Zaeem-which translates in Arabic as The Boss- as Al-SaDd is also known.
