Eaglets Coach Manu Garba , may possibly stick with the team that wrought the 7-0 massacre of Congo last Sunday when the Golden Eaglets tackle Tunisia today in the second semi-finals of the on-going Morocco 2013 Confederation of African Nations Under 17 Championship.
Manu hardly gamble with his team unless inevitable and has admitted as much while speaking ahead of the match after the team’s training on Tuesday.
To this end, the duo of Success Isaac and Kelechi Iheanacho may play in a twin-attacking formation to cause problems for the oppositions.
The two marksmen have scored 10 goals out of the teams’ total 17 so far in the tournament.
Iheanacho, for instance, justified his inclusion ahead of Taiwo Awoniyi in the starting line up against the hapless Junior Red Devils of Congo when he grabbed a hat trick to add to his solitary strike against Ghana.
Success has cemented his position in the team and he is the tournament’s leading scorer with six goals.
Golden Eaglets have described toady's semi final match against Tunisia as a tantalising offer to show what they are capable of doing as Assistant coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has tipped the team to go all the way.
The Nigerian youngsters would meet their North African counterparts 4.00 pm Nigerian time in the second semis of the 2013 CAN Under-17 Championship at the Grande Stade Marrakech with the winner guaranteed a place in the final on Saturday.
Amuneke, said the boys had seen the wide difference between losing and winning a match, adding that losing to Cote d’Ivoire was a blessing in disguise because it shook the confidence of the players but we are happy they have responded well.
The Golden Eaglets secured a date with the Young Carthage Eagles after topping Group B following their 6-1 and 7-0 wins over Ghana and Congo respectively in the other matches.
The Tunisians are yet to be beaten at this tournament-they beat Botswana (3-1); Gabon (4-2) and drew (1-1) with Morocco.
Similarly, Golden Eaglets’ captain, Musa Mohammed, has again affirmed the commitment of the team towards their quest to be African champions at the cadet level.
Golden Eaglets’ tireless midfielder, Chidiebere Nwakali, has vowed to wear Tunisia to shreds in today’s semi-final games in Marrakech.
Nwakali, who has been constant as the Northern Star in the heart of the Eaglets’ midfield, has promised to be at his best if given the chance to feature game against the North Africans.
Nwakali remains upbeat in spite of the fact that the Tunisians are yet to lose a match at this Championship and would most likely be playing on a familiar terrain since Marrakech is located in the Northern part of the continent.
A win on Wednesday would take Nigeria to its third finals since the competition was changed into championship format in 1995 and Nwakali is not oblivious of the task ahead.
