Nigerian FIFA badge refree, Saheed Temidayo Ayeni, has declared his intention to retire as a professional football referee after twenty-eight years of active service.

Ayeni, who join the profession in nineteen eighty-five will on the thirty-first of December,2013, end his career as an international referee.

The referee, who had officiated at the 2012 FIFA Fustal World Cup in Thialand where he officiated five matches, adviced the Nigeria Referee Association, NRA, to keep the professional vibrant through regular refresher courses so as to help Nigerian referees to officiate FIFA World Cup matches.

Ayeni, who was giving the beaten of l...ife during a league match involving insurance of Benin at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium for failing to compromise, said insurance of Benin were not in good form during the league season and they needed his assistance to help the club to escape relegation, but his refuasl led to a mob action.

He said the Nigeria Football Association, NFA, Nigeria Referee Association and the League Management Company must endeavour to deploy enough trained security personnel to curb soccer violence.

Meanwhile, the FIFA badge referee has commened the Local Organising Committee, L.O.C, for organising a seminar for the participating teams in the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship.

According to him, the committee deem it necessary to invite him and Bukola Olisa, another FIFA badge referee to enlighten the teams based on series of complains emanating from the club officials, stressing that the programme would go a long way in assisting the players to acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations guiding the competition.

Ayeni, however, called on the L.O.C to organise regular refresher courses for the match officials as they need to be exposed to the nutty gritty of five-a-side football competition.

He charged the players to exhibit professional attitude while on or off the field of play and also to expose themselves to the fundarmental rules of five-a-side football to avoid unnecessary soccer violence.
