Former Nigerian internationals have commended the Lagos State Government and MTN Nigeria for organising the annual MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship which started six years ago.
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, Mutu Adepoju, former General Mananger of 3sc, Henry Nwosu, former coach of Golden Eaglets, Anne Echejine, former Falcons goalkeeper and Tunde Disu, former flying Eagles coach were among the dignatries that attened the draws for season six, MTN Street Soccer Championship.
Speaking with our correspondent, Peter Rufai, said his interest in the popular five-a-side football competition was borne out his desire to add value to the growth of grassroot football.
Rufai who noted it was worthy of associating himself with the competition since the players see him him as a mentor, said the competition was a vibrant brand which arouse the interest of youths, football clubs, soccer academics, adding the competition had been producing talents since its inception.
He appealed to the Local Organising Committee, L.O.C not to derail from the set objectives of using the tournament to produce credible players for the national teams.
