In readiness for the Season Six, MTN Lagos Street Soccer, the Local Organising Committee, L.O.C, will on Monday at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Sportshall organise a seminar for  referees, match commissioners and all the registered teams.

Secretary General of the tournament, Deji Aladegbemi, comfirmed that over 800 teams had registered for the Five - A - Side football competition, while over 3000 officials including, stewards and medical personnel will be engaged on a weekly basis in the next 12 weeks.

On today's seminar, Aladegbemi, said the event was geared towards fulfilling one of the visions of the project, which is to serve as engagement and empowerment platform.

He said the introduction of the Under 15 Junior category was significant to organize seminar on the Futsal laws of the game designed to help the coaches and young players to understand the unique rules of  Five - A - Side football.

He said: “Considering the introduction of the U-15 Junior category, it is significant to organize seminar on the Futsal laws of the game designed to help the coaches and young players to understand the unique rules of 5-aside football.

Above all, it’s about ensuring that both officials and players are on same page as far as the rules of the games are concerned.”

With the draws for the competition scheduled for Wednesday August 14, Aladegbemi said, “The draws is in tandem with the adopted format of the competition, which is round robin, where registered teams are openly drawn into group made up of five teams. Every team is expected to play a minimum of four matches before either proceeding to the next rounds or elimination.

The draws as usual, is to ensure that the competition is taking into every part of the Lagos State in order to ensure community buy-in and participation,” the scribe added.

He explained further, “2013 edition will offer unique platform for teams to showcase mastery of the game within their respective ward and local government at the early rounds of competition. Season six will be played in the following phases, round 1, 2, 3, 64, 32, 16, 8 and finale.”

“Considering registration threshold in 2013, twenty four match venues will play host to matches, with ten venues out of these centers designated as super centres, where the title sponsor will showcase MTN essence of enriching life with lot of entertainment, free raffle tickets and products give-away.
