Bamgbola Tasks Private Sector On Sports Development.

Chairman of Itire Ikate Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola, has tasked  private companies in the country to put aside a percentage of their profit for sports development in the localities where they operate.

Bamgbola, said the gesture would fur ther enhance the growth of sports and also help Nigerian athletes to attain greater heights in their cjhosen profession, adding that many of the Nigerian athletes lack corporate endorsement.

Bamgbola, is one of the 23 council chairmen in Lagos who will receiving Good Governance and Peace awards from Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation, NWF, during the final ceremony of the 3rd BRF Wrestlemania at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos,

He said that he would continue to give the wrestling federation the needed support to develop the game at the grassroots, adding that gone were the days when wrestling was a popular sport in the country.

Chairman of Itire Ikate Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola has tasked  private companies in the country to be alive to their Corporate Social Responsibilities, CRS, to the Nigerian society.

“It is high time the government compels these companies to give back to the society because most of them, except a few, don’t want to identify with what is happening with our youths. I believe sports is a powerful tool to bring harmony and peace into the society by keeping our youths busy,” said Bamgbola, who has put in place a quarterly Chairman’s Walk to keep the people of the LCDA fit.

On the development of sports in Itire Ikate LCDA, Bamgbola said that the council would continue to give its athletes the necessary support to succeed in the state’s sporting events, adding that the LCDA’s team in the ongoing season of the Lagos Junior League have been motivated to performance.

“We have one of the country’s former Olympian who is helping in the training of our boxers and there is a gym built by former Commissioner of Finance in Lagos, Mr. Wale Edun where our boxers use for their training,” said the chairman.

He said that he would continue to give the wrestling federation the needed support to develop the game at the grassroots, adding that gone were the days when wrestling was a popular sport in the country.

“To me the lost glory of the sport has to return with the support of everybody and I particularly will support all effort of the federation and its leadership to popularise and develop wrestling at the grassroots,” he said.
