Aishat Oriyomi Wins Governor's Belt Edition.

Ayishat Oriyomi of D and D Boxing club has emerged  winner or this year's Governor's Belt Edition based on her outstanding performance at the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show which ended yesterday at the Mobolaji Johnson Sportshall, Rowe-Park, Yaba.

Oriyomi, adjudged by the Referees and Judges of Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, as the best boxer out of sixteen pugilists that fought in nine bouts, is the first ever female boxer to win the special boxing competition fixed for Boxing Day since it's inception in 2009.

The one-day competition organised by the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame with the support of the state Amateur Boxing Association, saw Oriyomi defeating Odion Onome from Ogun-State, by a split decision of two points to one.

Speaking on her feat, Oriyomi, who thanked Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and Chairman of Lagos State Boxing Hall Of Fame , Olawale Edun for their commitment to the growth of boxing , urged other female boxers not to relent in their efforts to record success in their chosen career.

The female Pugilist, who won a Gold medal at the Eko 2012 Games , said she would re-double her efforts to the title by winning a Gold medal at the National Sports Festival  in Calabar, Cross-River State.

Wahid Shogbamu was adjudged the second runner up while Blessing Bada was the first runner - up.

In other bouts decided,Wahid Shogbamu outpunched Kazeem Saka, in an unanimous decision in the 64 kilogramme.

Shoyoye Kazeem from Ogun State defeated Olarenwaju Olokode of Lion boxing club by unanimous decision as Taiwo Agbaje of Youth Star boxing club beat Sanusi Abiodun of Ogun State in a split decision of two points to one
