Following the inability of Nigeria's and Chelsea F.C sensational football player to win the just concluded Glo- CAF African Football Award, Head Coach of Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, has expressed his disapointment over the award which Cote D'Ivoire and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure won.
Nigeria last won the award fourteen years ago when former Nigeria's international Nwankwo Kanu was adjudged African Footballer of the Year in Nineteen ninety- nine.
Keshi, who was adjudged the Coach of the Year at the expense of compatriot Manu Garba and Burkina Faso head coach, Paul Put, said he the failure of Mikel to win this year's edition would enable him to encourage his players to continue working hard so as to be nominated for the award in the future, adding that it was a great feat for Mikel to be counted among the best shortlisted three African footballers from a pool of African players.
The coach, said Mike could have won the award if the duo of Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba are not among the players shortlisted for award, adding that he would encouraged him not to relent in his efforts to win the award in the future.
On his award, Keshi, said the award was made possible through his fantastic assistant coaches and players whose hard work paved the way for the success recorded at the last 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
