Basketball Federation, NBBF has appointed a Technical Director to drive it's
2013-2017 Strategic Plan aimed at developing and adding value to all it's
leagues and programmes.
After considering a number of candidates, the
federation settled for former long-time national coach, board member, team
owner and international scout for New York Knicks, Ayo Bakare.
Bakare is expected to bring additional impetus and experience to the rather dificult job of implementing, supervising and diversifying the various initiatives of the federation.
The new Technial Director who has resumed duties
with the federation, has served as Head Coach on several teams within the
national team programme and has won medals on the African continent at junior
and senior(men and women) categories.
He was also the one who qualified
Nigeria to her first Fiba Men's and Women's World Championships in 1998 and
2006 as well as the Olympic Games in 2012 and for which he has been honoured by
Fiba Africa.
In a related development, the federation has also reconstituted some key
committees to ensure a successful 2013/2014 season.
The reconstituted
committees have been streamlined to allow for expedited and easy
decision-making and implementation and are as follows:
