GAC World Tour Will Serve As A Pre-requisite For Commonwealt Games Selection, Oshodi

Nigeria Table Tennis Federation,NTTF, has assured that the GAC Group 2014 World Table Tennis Tour tagged Lagos Open will serve as a pre- requisite to select ten Nigria's pingpongers for the Galsgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Scotland.
Its President, Wahid Enitan Oshodi, who is medals hopeful at the Games, said the Lagos open which would stroke- off today would enable the NTTF to assess its players who would be competing against country like Singapore that is one of the strongest nations at the Commonwealth Games.
As part of its readiness to record an excellent performance at the Games, Oshodi said the Federation had paved the for Nigeria's top players to compete in internatioal table tennis federation,ITTF, circuits in Germany and Kuwait in order to garner points and also to gain exposure and experience, stressing that the qualification of Nigeria's sensational ping pongers, Aruna Quadri in the Spanish last sixtreen was a remarkable feat.
Oshodi, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports in Lagos State, said the likes of Segun Toriola, former Africa's number one among others Nigeria's great top ping pongers had been engaging the Federation's young players to help them to become Nigeria's future stars, adding that Esther Oribamise, a junior players who participated in a world class competitions.
He stressed that Nigeria table tennis players would return to camp immediately after the Lagos Open in readiness for the Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland.
