MTN Nigeria Commends Lagos State Goverment On Its Commitment On MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship.

The management of MTN has praised the Lagos State Government for its positive drive and determination to continually widen the scope of the popular annual MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship which has turned to be platform for exposing Nigeria's grassroot football players to stardom.

Over five hundred and thirty teams across Lagos State have so far registered for the Championship.

According to the breakdown, two hundred and seventy- two teams registered for the Under 15 junior category with Lagos Island East having the highest number of teams, while two hundred and ten and thirty- five teams were confirmed for the male and female in the open categories.

Speaking on Wednesday at the unveiling ceremony of Season seven of MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship at the Sports bar of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, a representative of the company, Saidat Lawal Mohammed, is optimistic that this year's edition will as usual provide a platform for the players in different categories of the tournament to exhibit their skills to the admiration of football scouts.

Mohammed, said the telecommunication outfit which had paved the way for numerous Nigerian grassroot football players to attract the attention of international football scouts due to the foreign training tour couple with mentoring scheme to elevate the status of the players whose teams were among the top winners of the popular Five - A - Side football competition.

While commending the Lagos State Government for its keen interest and also giving opportunities for female and younger football players to key into an organised and well structured football tournament geared at opening doors for them to become Nigeria's future stars, Mohammed,said the telecommunication company had a scholarship scheme where Nigeria's youths from different walks of life benefit from the scheme.
