Fashola To Play In LETI Novelty Football Match.

 

  

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) will Saturday at the Campos Mini-Stadium, Lagos Island play alongside a select team of members of the Corporate Organizations’, Media, the Visually Impaired and the Public Sector in the Finale of the ‘Play For Me Football Series’ organized by the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute.

The BRF led-team, known as Team LAW & ORDER will square up against TEAM LETI, comprising of officers of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS). 

The friendly football match, which kicks off at Three O Clock in the afternoon is part of the ‘Play for Me Sports Challenge’ an aspect of the Community Outreach Programme introduced by the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute in furtherance of the efforts of the State Government to stimulate seamless relationship between its law enforcement agents and the various communities where they serve with focal goal of improving voluntary compliance to traffic and environmental laws.

 

This finale is the culmination of several friendly ties which  had seen  Team LETI play a host of organizations such as the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), United Property Development Company (UPDC), Classic FM, the Visually Impaired Team of Lagos, Special Traffic Mayors (STM) , Seven-Up Bottling Company, Sterling Bank, EKO Vees-a representative team of Youths in Lagos State and the Football  Team of Yaba College of Technology.

The novelty match according to the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Transport Education, Dr. Mariam Masha is a novel approach of using sports as a catalyst to actualize the goals of this outreach programme.

Dr. Masha added that the emphasis of the sports challenge is not on winning but to build and sustain high level of teamwork and collective responsibility between the community and the Law Enforcement officers in the overall goal of achieving a better society for all and sundry.

She disclosed further that the involvement of several organizations in the public and private sectors, professional Unions, academics, social clubs, Media Organizations’ have indeed assisted to shore up more goodwill between the officers and the entire citizenry.
