MTN Lagos Street Soccer: Former Champions Talk Tough As Tournament Hits Round of 32

Three former champions of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship have started talking tough just as the season seven of the competition enters round of 32.

 

  Defending champion, ABS Street as well as 2011 and 2012 champions, Lawal Akapo and Koilo Streets believe they would be unstoppable on their way to cuddle the coveted trophy with the mouthwatering prize money.

 

  Three former champions have fought their way into the last 32 having started their campaigns with other teams when the tournament kicked off with more than 300 male category teams.

 

  ‎Coaches of Lawal Akapo and Koilo have vowed to reclaim the title from ABS with the intention of becoming the first team to win the title twice since its inception in 2008.

 

  With eight centres hosting the round of 32 matches, 32 teams will slug it out in the U-15 junior category while 18 female teams will also be involved as the competition enters crucial stages.‎

 

  According to the Executive Secretary of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Deji Aladegbemi, the competition is at crucial and   tougher phase as the best 32 teams showcase their passion and football skills, while some of the teams found guilty of fielding ineligible players have been disqualified.

 

  “We are impressed with the conduct of the teams this season because we have less of protest compared to previous editions. Teams are now well informed about the rules of the game. As the "game changer" the U-15 junior category continue to excites football fans and supporters across the five divisions of Lagos State, for us this is our target and we hope that the best teams will lift the title at the end of the tournament,” he said.
