Nigeria Cup Is To Restructure Ikoyi Golf Section.

The eighteenth edition of Nigeria Golf Cup has teed off on Saturday at the Golf section of Ikoyi club 1938 with the children’s event.
Vice Captain, Golf section of Ikoyi club 1938, Tony Onwu, who explained that this year’s edition would feature children’s caddies, professionals and veterans, said fifty children would compete in the competition as the Golf section would engaged the kids in a day clinic in order to widen their horizon.
Onwu, said the section’s developmental prgorammes had been able to produce talented young Golfers whose performances at the South Africa and British Golf opens was worthy of praise as they were the best among their contemporary from Africa.
He said the 18th edition of Nigeria cup 2014 was to celebrate Nigeria Independence and also to celebrate Nigerianess, adding that the competition is to underscore the need to develop the infrastructure of ikoyi club 1938, Golf section.
Apart from the children’s event, the Nigeria’s Golf cup will also accommodate eighty ladies golfers of which the Golf section will produce fifty golf players while two hundred professional and veteran Golfers will vye for honours as a cash prize of three million naira is at stake in the professional cadre.
He assured that proceeds from the sponsorship deal would be dedicated to charity and also enhance their youth developmental programme
