The Lagos State Ministry of Youths,
Sports and Social Development has called on the chairmen of local
governments\local council development areas and principals of secondary
schools to be the ministry's partners in progress by investing in
grassroot sports.
Its
permanent
secretary, Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu, made the statement on Tuesday at the
presentation of award ceremony to winners of the 2012 and 2014 IBILE
Games.
Whenu,
said the ceremony tagged "Reward for excellent performance"was meant to
showcase one of the promises made and fulfiled by the administration of
Government Babatunde Fashola, adding that the award ceremony would spur
more development strategies in sports administration at the grassroot
level.
He
said the state government was poised to delve more towards the
development of youths in the state especially in the area of competitive
sports, towards recognition of talents and reward of efforts.
