Oshodi Congratulates New NFF President And Board.

Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi, Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development in Lagos State has congratulated the newly elected board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in his office on Tuesday 30th September, 2014 shortly after the election.

Oshodi stated that with the conduct of a peaceful, free and fair election by the NFF which ushered in the new board members, it only goes to show that Nigeria and Nigerians still have hope for the future.

He commended the out-gone NFF President, Mr. Aminu Maigari for his gentlemanly conduct in running the affairs of the Federation while in office and for supervising such a peaceful election and for his various achievements that includes Nigeria becoming AFCON Champions in 2013, FIFA Under-17 World Cup Champion in UAE, Nigeria advancing past the first round at the World Cup in Brazil 2014.

Mr. Amaju Pinnick was particularly congratulated by the Commissioner for his being elected as the new President of the NFF board. Recalling Pinnick’s achievements as the Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission and Football Association, Oshodi implores him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the running of the affairs of NFF. He also enjoined him to ensure that Nigeria is placed in good standing with the world football body, FIFA while he should endeavour to raise the stakes higher in Nigeria football house.

Enitan Oshodi was particularly delighted with the election of Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi as the 1st Vice President of the new NFF board, Seyi is the current Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA). According to Oshodi, football administration has witnessed a lot of transformation in Lagos State under Seyi Akinwunmi, management of our various football competitions have been streamlined with the involvement of LSFA, records are now been kept and programmes running smoothly at the Lagos Football House. He therefore implored the new Vice President of NFF to implement some of his novel ideas in the running of the affairs of the game at the apex football house.

Oshodi affirmed that Lagos State is ready to work with the new NFF board as was in the past and “let me assure you that the State would continue to support the Board through the development of youth football in Lagos through our grassroots sports development programmes”, he concluded.
