Goalkeeper of Amazing Grace Football Club, Afolabi Onanuga, has been adjudged the Most Valuable Player, MVP, in a match played yesterday against Moonluck Football Club in the ongoing Winners Goldenbet/Lagos FA Cup.
Amazing Grace Football Club, started her campaign in the competition on a lackluster performance as, Moonluck FC's first goal in the first half was a wake-up call for the Amazing Grace FC that equalised to the end of the match, on-goal apiece.
Onanuga, who was not favoured for the award, aroused the interest of sports journalists, coaches and football administrators, saddled with the responsibility of picking the MVP as the goalkeeper was in good form to save two spot-kicks while his team scored its four kicks to end the match, 4 - 2 on penalties after the match ended one - goal apiece in duration time.
An elated Onanuga, was rewarded for his performance with a cash prize of ten thousand naira (=N=10,000.00) while Fuwad Suleiman was adjudged the Most Valuable Player, in the match between World Stars and Fame FC, to win the sum of ten thousand naira,(=N=10,000.00) .
Onanuga is the first goalkeeper to win the MVP award.
