Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Monday, March 16, 2015 | 2:15 AM

Two –time winners Enyimba FC of Aba have a mountain to climb after they only managed a 1-0 win over Egyptian opponents Smouha FC in the first leg of their CAF Champions League first round fixture in Aba on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant, who trounced Beninoise side Buffles du Borgu 3-0 at the same Enyimba International Stadium in their preliminary round home leg tie, edged a tough and tight affair but will rue missed chances against the North Africans.

Raphael Boumsong scored the only goal of the match after 63 minutes, giving a narrow advantage to the 2003 and 2004 champions heading into the return leg in Egypt in two weeks.

Nigeria’s other flagbearer in the CAF Champions League, Kano Pillars, will take on Moghreb Tetouan away in Morocco next weekend, after CAF moved their first round, first leg duel following an armed robbery attack on the Nigerian champions.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Warri Wolves defeated Dedebit FC of Ethiopia 2-0 in Warri on Saturday, while Dolphins FC were walked over after arriving late into Tunisia for a first round, first leg match against Club Africain.
