An executive committee member of Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, Emeka Inyama, has charged the Flying
Eagles to beat archrivals Ghana on their way to winning a seventh
African Youth Championship crown.
The Flying Eagles will clash with Black Satellites of Ghana on Wednesday in the first semifinal of the AYC in Dakar, Senegal.
“We must all be aware of the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana
meaning this match will be war,” said Inyama, who is also the chairman
of the Nigeria National League (NNL).
“We have put up a wonderful performance so far here in Senegal but we should also know that Ghana will fight against us.
“We should therefore not be deceived that we beat them and drew with
them in Ghana last month. Those matches were mere friendlies, but the
match on Wednesday is a competitive one and the motivation will be a lot
different.”
The leader of the Nigerian delegation to Senegal 2015 further told
the squad at their Alafifa Hotel in Dakar: “The president and executive
committee are very proud of the fine run of this team and have asked me
to convey their appreciation to you.
“We will continue to support you and we expect you to go past the
hurdle posed by Ghana on your way to winning the cup on Sunday.
“We have ensured that you lack nothing and that as a result you will go all out to do the country proud here in Senegal.”
Assistant captain Taiwo Awoniyi spoke on behalf of the Flying Eagles, saying they are fired up to make history in Senegal.
“We wish to express our gratitude to the NFF for all the support they
have given us and we promise we will not disappoint Nigeria,” said the
striker, who has scored three goals at the 2015 AYC.
“We know the entire country expects only one thing from us – victory.
And we will deliver this on Wednesday and in the final on Sunday.”
