Nigeria's Olympic team, under te tutelage of Samson Siasia defeated Congo by a slim margimg of two-one, in the first leg at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, in Port Harcourt, River State.
Gafar, a board member of the Lagos State Football Association, said the excitement of playing in a staduim which was full to capacity and also playing away from their home ground, National stadium, Abuja, were the major factors that affected th team quest of recording overwhelming victory against Congo.
While explaining that the team needs a minimum of one-all draw to scale through the qualify hurdles, Gafar, said the team stood a better chance to qualify if tey could re-enact santilating skills that pave the way for the two- one win, stressing that te fisrty leg in Port Harcoutrt should had ended four-nil if the team striker, Junior Ajayi, had converted to goals its scoring chances.
He advised the team striker, Junior Ajayi, who he described as a box player, who place in a vantage position in the goal area, to be calm and not be in haste to score goals, adding that the combination of Taiwo Awoniyi and Junior Ajayi would produce goals in Pointe Noire, Congo.
