Dolphins FC To Honour FC Ifeanyi Ubah's League Match On Sunday

Players of Dolphins Football Club of PortHarcourt have resolved to honour Nigeria Professional Football League match against FC Ifeanyi Ubah football club in a league match scheduled for Sunday, in Anambra State.

Its prolific midfielder, Isiaka Olawale, while speaking with sportsweight.blogspot.com, said they had put aside the crisis rocking the team and they are focussed on securing maximum three points at stake because of their uncomfortable position on the league table.


The team, currently occupying 17th position on the Nigeria Professional Football League, has thirty- three points from thirty- one league matches, had embarked on a peaceful protest to the Governor's House in Rivers State, in order to gear up the state government to pay their Sign-on fees, salaries and match bonuses.

Against the reports that players of Dolphins Football club has boycott Sunday's premier league match against FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Isiaka, confirmed that the team had been training since Tuesday till date ahead of the match which they had resolved to win to secure three points and increase their points to thirty- six from thirty- two league matches.

Immediately after the FC Ifeanyi Ubah's league match on Sunday, Isiaka, assured that the players would continue with their protest to drive home the need for the State's Governor to bail out the club from its financial crisis and also to put smiles on the players face who were  deprived of their entitlements, adding that they would also honour their next away league match against Giwa FC of Jos, Plateau State.

According to Olawale, the management of Dolphins Football Club is owing its players twenty- two months Sign- on fees, two month salaries and  five matches bonuses, a move which negates the regulations of the League Management Company,LMC, that charged all the elite league clubs to pay maximum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira as salary instead of Sign- on fee.

The captain of Nigeria's Beach Soccer, said the team decided to take the case to Governor, Nyesome Wike, since the club's management had taken its as a norm not to pay its players sign- on fees of two hundred percent, adding that the Governor is yet to meet to with them but they are hopeful that he would invite them for negotiation.

He mentioned that the team was able to get their last two seasons sign- on fees after sleeping at the Governor's House during former Governor Rotimi Ameachi administration, stressing that the management of Dolphins Football club is still paying old salary and not the new structure introduced by LMC.
