Former Nigeria's international, Fatai Amoo, says football players and coaches during his generation benefited a lot from the expertise of the foreign coaches who had tinkered the various national teams.
While speaking on ''The Breakfast Show,TBS" on EKOFM, Amoo, said Segun Odegbami, Muda Lawal, Felix Owolabi, among others were the crop of football players who the former national team coach, Otto Gloria, a Brazilian, discovered and groomed to become international stars.
He mentioned that Father Tiko, a Yugoslavian, who the likes of Humphrey Edobor, Lukman Osho, himself, Bright Omokaro and late Stephen Keshi, passed through his tutelage, reformed football in Nigeria, adding that some of the players he tutored handled the national teams.
He pointed out that the present Nigeria's football players do not have such opportunity because most of the employed foreign coaches hardly reside in the country and they do not monitor the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, with a mindset of selecting quality indigenous players.
