West Africa's number one female Squash player, Yemisi Olatunji, says Nigeria's squash players are not happy over the cancellation of the 2020 Lagos International Badminton Classics at the Squash center of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
Olatunji, who is Nigeria's number three female Squash player, said the tournament which was cancelled as a result of Cov-19 pandemic, had created an avenue for the nation's squash players to compete against world rated players and it has elevated their status.
While calling on the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, to assist some of the country's squash players who do not have corporate endorsement and sponsorship in order to attend international competitions, the squash player, said lack of funds had affected Squash and others sporting associations in the country.
She commended the Nigeria Squash Federation,NSF, for ensuring that some of its athletes featured in seven international competitions, a feat, she said worth appreciating the federation efforts.
